In honour of Geekness
(home)I’m a geek and this post is to celebrate it.
Some things I’ve done in the last couple of days that “regular” people might find geeky:
- Contemplated how anyone could ever have lived on dial-up (after my connection got shaped for excessive usage - long story involving me downgrading my plan and it unexpectedly coming into effect right away)
- Felt some nerdly pride when I captured the SOAP packets running between a client I’d written and fedWS2
- Logging into the machine that hosts this web site remotely. Nothing special, but for non-nerds the fact that it is in Chicago and I am all the way down the bottom (almost) of Australia should win some nerd points.
- Gotten so angry at the ugliness of the “Times New Roman” font in Word that I changed Normal.dot to get something more pleasing on a permanent basis
- Got a bit giggly over Generics
- Shed a tear over the beauty that is wireless networking
- Gathered EXTREME amounts of pleasure from closing 6 bugs in 2 hours before going to bed
- Getting into bed and reading for another hour about Objective-C
This post was brought to you by the letter U.
