As many of you will now no doubt know, we completed Mick’s bucks festivities over the last couple of days. Beginning with a kidnapping on Friday afternoon we headed up to airport and on to Sydney for the evening. The ensuing madness was a combination of mother nature and a national crash of the Virgin Blue computer system that saw our flight delayed an hour and us sitting in the plane on the tarmac for another two before being allowed to take off. Suffice to say we missed our dinner reservation.

Having landed and finally gotten to the accommodation we set out in search of food. Wandering several kilometres from the hotel we settled for a time in the Star City Casino. For the record, I put $100 down on the black jack tables and came out with $145 (only the second time I have ever won (both of which have come from black jack). Following this, we sat for many, many drinks (even Mick was necking them like I have never seen him do). The evening finally concluded at 5:30am where we were able to catch about 2 full seconds of sleep before our 10am checkout.

Spending Saturday in Sydney we finally got to eat at the Meat and Wine Co. I’ve rarely had meat melt in my mouth, but on that day I did. Trips to the Powerhouse Museum and Opera House were also involved before heading to the airport for our flight home. Not surprisingly this flight was also delayed and we ended up about an hour late to the club where the remainder of the bucks night was to begin. From here there was more drinking, gambling (I lost $60, I’m never, EVER, playing roulette again) and walking before we called an end to the evening at about 3am.

From here a procession of three cars began the hour and half drive back to Ballarat where we began execution of the “end game”. Armed with cameras, Tom, Josh, Pete, Daltsy and myself enjoyed a merry old time while Mick was ever the good sport. Long story short, this resulted in Mick firmly attached to his future wife’s letterbox via fluffy lavender handcuffs, blindfolded, in his underwear with a G-string on his head. The only catch was that he had not been clued in to where he was and I let him with the subtle hint that it was the ITMS head of school (his bosses boss).

• Andy for making a special trek to Ballarat on Friday for the kidnapping and being involved in the full festivities
• Josh and Daltsy for driving to and from Melbourne on Saturday
• Everyone else for making Saturday night one that will not be forgotten for quite the time to come.

A special mention goes out to Marni who made up for our lack of time prior to the kidnapping on Friday by going to Club-X and getting the handcuffs/blindfold in enough time to hand them off to Josh before he headed up. We were thinking zip-ties and a scarf, but nothing says love quite like fluffy lavender cuffs.

Special thanks to Jen for not yelling at me when I woke her up via phone at 4 in the morning informing her that we would soon be delivering her fiance to her letter box and abiding by the rules of engagement we set forth.

Finally, thanks to Mick for being a good sport, good mate and good hostage. I’m sure this one will be one he passes on to the kids
