I’m never going to the university print shop again.
I took a whole heap of stuff in there yesterday to get bound, some of which was VERY thick. I did all the documents up in bulldog clips (which I didn’t get back thank you very much) and some of them spanned almost 3 of the big 32mm ones. These were some big documents. Naturally I wasn’t sure if they could bind some of them into one document, so I asked. I said “I have a large amount of stuff to get, some of it is very thick and I’m not sure if you will be able to bind it all”. The lady asked to see the stuff and I showed her. I pulled them out (all grouped nicely) I lay them down crisscrossed so that one document (consisting of three clipped parts) was all the same way, the next document was crossed over it at 90 degrees to as to indicate they were all ONE document.
She said it would be no problem and asked what sort of binding I wanted. I asked for plastic ring on the big ones (I sorted into two piles, again, criss crossed) because I needed to be able to read them, and some of the smaller ones (the ones which fitted in a single bulldog clip) I put in another pile to be tape bound.
The job was left overnight and I returned today to pick it all up. I was expecting it to cost about $40 however for some reason it was over $60! I got back into the car and took a proper look at the list of what she had done when I discovered my problem. She just bound them all separately. My HUGE document which had been placed CLEARLY one way and grouped together had been bound as they were clipped. HOW STUPID CAN ONE PERSON BE. You really have to wonder, I mean, consider the following:
1. The first page of the document was a cover sheet, the first page of the second and third clips were just text filled.
2. I had asked for ring binding so that I would be able to read the big documents easily. Why then, would I have a smaller number of pages, say in the third clip, then in some of the documents which I decided didn’t need to be ring bound because they were not that big?
3. Why on earth would I hold up a chunk of THREE clipped bits together and say “this is probably the thickest, can you bind this?”
So, now I had 5 documents bound up as 12! ****!
When you consider that it costs $3.80 to get each one bound I was now out an extra $25! I took them back in and the lady was very apologetic. I showed her the sets of three which were meant to be one and she informed me that the biggest ring would not be able to handle all of that. *Blink*
Long story short, I got her to redo 3 of the documents which were split into 2 and the others I’ll just have to live with. To top it all off, when I returned, I was not offered any sort of refund for the extra binding I had paid for. I couldn’t be bothered anymore so I just left.
Next time I’m going to OfficeWorks.
AHHHHHH. This whole day (starting from last night) has had me feeling rushed and off balance. I should just go to bed and get up all over again, maybe it will all turn around.
On a good note, our couches are arriving today, mmmm, couches.
